REFUND & CANCELLATION POLICY

POLICIES

At Barnes Building Inspections, we understand that circumstances can change.

This Refund & Cancellation Policy explains how cancellations, rescheduling and refunds are handled for our building inspection services.

1. Cancellations

  • Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the scheduled inspection may be eligible for a full refund or rescheduling at no additional charge.

  • Cancellations made within 48 hours of the scheduled inspection may incur a cancellation or administration fee where permitted by law.

  • Cancellations made on the day of the inspection, or where the inspector is unable to access the property or site as arranged, may result in the inspection fee being retained to cover time, travel and booking costs.

  • Where possible, we encourage clients to contact us as soon as they know an inspection needs to be cancelled or rescheduled.

2. Rescheduling

Where an inspection needs to be rescheduled, Barnes Building Inspections will work with the client to arrange another suitable inspection time, subject to availability.

Where an inspection cannot proceed because of circumstances outside the client's control, we will work with the client to reschedule where reasonably possible.

3. Inspection Commencement

Once an inspection has commenced, cancellation of the service will generally not entitle the client to a refund for work already performed.

If a report has been completed or issued, no refund will be provided for work already performed, except where a refund or other remedy is required under the Australian Consumer Law.

4. Site Access & Site Conditions

The client is responsible for ensuring that the property or building site is reasonably accessible and safe for the scheduled inspection.

If the inspector cannot safely access the property or the inspection cannot proceed due to site conditions, restricted access, unsafe conditions or circumstances outside our reasonable control, we may need to reschedule the inspection.

Where an inspection cannot proceed due to circumstances outside the client's control, Barnes Building Inspections will work with the client to arrange an alternative inspection time where reasonably possible.

5. Weather

Certain inspection stages may be affected by weather or site conditions.

If weather conditions make an inspection unsafe or impractical to complete, Barnes Building Inspections may reschedule the inspection in consultation with the client.

6. Refunds

Where a refund is approved, it will generally be processed using the original payment method.

Refund processing times may vary depending on the payment provider or financial institution.

Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies available to consumers under the Australian Consumer Law.

7. Australian Consumer Law

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

For major failures with a service, you may be entitled to:

  • cancel your service contract; and

  • a refund for the unused portion, or compensation for its reduced value.

You may also be entitled to compensation for other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.

For a minor failure, you may be entitled to have the problem rectified within a reasonable time. If the problem is not rectified, you may have further rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

8. Questions About Cancellations or Refunds

If you have any questions about our Refund & Cancellation Policy, or need to cancel or reschedule an inspection, please contact Barnes Building Inspections as soon as possible.
